7th Grade Presentations Each year, Judge Duplantier , ADA Michelle Breaux and volunteers from local law enforcement agencies travel to local middle schools to provide an interactive presentation to 7th grade students. Since academic year 2005, the C.L.E.V.E.R. program has educated over 6,000 Lafayette Parish Students in both public and private schools. Our program aims to motivate youth to make positive life choices, and provides them with information vital to avoiding potentially dangerous situations. Students and teachers are provided with a unique opportunity to interact with actual persons such as a Juvenile Judge, Assistant District Attorney and Juvenile Detectives from within our community. These presenters cover issues directly related to youth including what specific consequences they may incur by violating juvenile laws. Additionally, tools such as the Fatal Vision goggles are incorporated into hands on activities that are used to demonstrate how one bad choice may dramatically influence and negatively impact a young person’s life for years to come. Teachers are provided with resources that may be used for additional lessons to follow the group presentation.
