Judge Phyllis M. Keaty, Division M

Judge Phyllis M. Keaty has served as a State District Court Judge in the 15th Judicial District Court since 1999. She is co-founder of the Family Division of the 15th Judicial District Court. She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University in 1970 and graduated from Tulane University School of Law in 1990.

Judge Keaty is a member of the Judge's Association of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, Louisiana District Judge's Association, National Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges, the National Association of Women Judges, and the American, Louisiana, State, and Lafayette Parish Bar Associations.

She currently serves on the:

• Executive Board of the National Association of Women Judges,
• Louisiana Judicial College Board of Governors,
• Court Rules Committee of the Louisiana Supreme Court
• Family Court Rules Committee of the Louisiana Supreme Court

Civic activities include:

• Advisory Board of the University Art Museum
• Advisory Board to the Department of Child and Family Studies, University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Her Community involvement has led to recognition as a Healing House Honoree, Lifestyle magazine's "Women Who Mean Business," the Connections Career Achievement Award, the Acadiana Woman of Excellence Award presented by the Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women.

Phyllis and her husband, William A. Keaty have been married for 38 years. She has four children Shawn Keaty Ellis and her husband, Mark. William Armshaw Keaty, II and James St. Paul Keaty, and one grandchild Alicia Erin Ellis.
