There are some changes with regard to the 2012 calendar and Division "H" detailed below:

Lafayette Parish:

Merits weeks are set in Lafayette, as opposed to merits being set for two (2) days as in 2011.  The Clerk shall set fifteen (15) matters on these weeks.  All litigants and attorneys shall be present in Court on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. so cases can be put in order to try during that week.

Acadia and Vermilion Parishes:

In Acadia Parish on some weeks, two (2) dates are listed.  Each of these dates is a separate rule date and, as in the past, up to twenty (20) matters shall be set on each of these dates.  The Duty weeks in Acadia and Vermilion will be used as dates to finish trials or for special fixings at the Court's discretion.  No matters shall be fixed on open days on Duty weeks except by order of the Judge in Division "H".

The purpose of these changes is to allow the Court to hear a case on consecutive or nearly consecutive days as opposed to spreading a trial/hearing over several months with a day here and there.  This is designed to make trying cases easier on the litigants and the attorneys.
